Our litigation practice includes the prosecution and defense of civil litigation matters, including employment, personal injury and commercial actions. We prosecute and defend employment actions on behalf of individuals and insured and self-insured corporations in state and federal actions and in state and federal administrative agencies. The cases we handle involve actions under state and federal statutes including, Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act and the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act. We also handle employment actions involving retaliatory discharge, employment torts and contract actions. Our representation also includes prosecution and defense of personal injury and wrongful death and commercial actions. In the area of personal injury and wrongful death we handle cases based on negligence, products liability, workplace violations and under the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act. We also prosecute and defend commercial actions involving contract disputes and violations of state and federal statutes and regulations.

We have successfully represented clients in all aspects of litigation including arbitration, administrative proceedings and have successfully tried cases to verdict in employment, personal injury and commercial actions. We have also successfully negotiated favorable settlements using cost-effective alternative dispute resolution in appropriate cases, including arbitration and mediation. The firm concentrates in the foregoing areas and provides consulting services as well as generalized and specialized training to our clients upon request. We apply substantive knowledge of the law and our litigation experience with a view toward zealous representation and cost-effective resolution of cases.



EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION CASES

In the field of employment rights, we handle cases in federal and state courts and before various state and federal administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, State Departments of Human Rights, and Departments of Labor. Litigation in this area includes prosecuting and defending employment discrimination actions based on Title VII (race, religion, gender, national origin and military status), the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. We also prosecute and defend state and federal court actions involving wage actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act. We also litigate claims of wrongful discharge, contract actions, quasi-contractual actions, employment torts and retaliatory discharge.

In the area of employment discrimination, we actively handle Charges of Discrimination in state and federal administrative agencies. We have successfully worked on behalf of individuals in conjunction with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to prosecute actions in federal court. Our efforts in conjunction with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission have lead to significant money awards for our clients. We have achieved success in administrative proceedings and favorable verdicts at trial and arbitration. We have also successfully employed mediation and arbitration to cost-effectively resolve disputed claims. Some of our corporate clients include car dealerships, bus tour companies, accounting firms, personnel staffing companies and manufacturing companies. We have represented individuals of many professions including high-level corporate executives, doctors, lawyers, engineers, information technology professionals and sales executives.



CONTRACT AND WAGE ACTIONS

We handle employment contract and wage cases in state and federal courts and actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act in the state and federal Departments of Labor. We also prosecute and defend contract actions involving restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements and trade secrets in state and federal courts. We routinely negotiate and prepare employment agreements and severance agreements for both employees and employers.



EMPLOYMENT POLICIES AND EMPLOYEE TRAINING

We counsel management on the day to day issues involving employees. We also prepare employee handbooks and policies and conduct employee and supervisor training regarding Anti-Harassment polices.



EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING AND ADVICE

We counsel both individuals and employers in how to effectively deal with employment matters as they arise to effectively resolve the problem without the need for litigation. We provide advice and counseling in all areas of employment law especially those that involve contracts, wages and issues of discrimination and harassment.



PERSONAL INJURY AND WRONGFUL DEATH

We handle cases involving personal injury and wrongful death including actions based on negligence, premises liability, products liability, workplace violations and under the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act. We have handled complex personal injury and wrongful death actions in Illinois federal and state courts including Cook, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, Will and Kane County.



COMMERCIAL ACTIONS

We prosecute and defend commercial actions in state and federal courts involving business disputes including contractual actions and violations of state and federal statutes and regulations.



INSURANCE DEFENSE

In the area of insurance defense we defend actions against employers under employment practices liability insurance policies in all area of employment law including in state and court administrative agencies and federal and state courts. In the area of personal injury and wrongful death we have defended individuals and corporations under personal lines and commercial general liability policies in state and federal court actions. Those actions include automobile negligence, products liability, premises liability and workplace violations. We have also defended and prosecuted cases in business disputes in the area of commercial litigation involving the violation of state and federal statutes and regulations and contract actions.

Based on our many years of experience in this area, we recognize the insurers' duty to provide a defense to its clients which necessarily requires engaging skilled and efficient defense counsel. Accordingly, we promptly acknowledge all case assignments and notify the insured of our representation. We provide prompt and detailed case assessment and evaluation and formulate a comprehensive litigation management plan designed to provide the information necessary to accurately reserve and evaluate every case.



ALTERNATE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

We have achieved success in administrative proceedings and favorable verdicts at arbitration and mediation. We have successfully employed mediation and arbitration in both state and federal courts and administrative proceedings to cost-effectively resolve disputed claims.
